How to join Hastings for Race and Poverty Law (HRPL)

Students at Hastings College of the Law may join Hastings for Race and Poverty Law (HRPL) by attending and participating in our bi-monthly meetings. HRPL along with Hastings Race and Poverty Law Journal (HRPL/J) plan on-campus and off-campus events (panels, town-hall forums, informative presentations, screenings and field trips) relating to, but not limited to, race, poverty and social justice.

All are welcomed to attend if you are interested in making a difference.

How to join Hastings for Race and Poverty Law Leadership Committee

Students at Hastings College of the Law may join Hastings for Race and Poverty Law Leadership Committee by attending and participating in our bi-monthly meetings.

The Leadership Committee is a group of individuals committed to leading our path to social change by preparing the upcoming Hastings for Race and Poverty Law meetings.

Hastings Race and Poverty Law’s Outreach to the Community

HRPL/J participates in many community outreach events, included but not limited to: A Day At Law School and Diversity Outreach Day.

“A Day @ Law School” is a project designed to introduce children ranging from ages 5 to 18 to the idea of attending law school. HRPL/J along with other UC Hastings student ran organizations are committed to serving the needs of youth. In addition to planting the seed of obtaining a higher education in the minds of the young attendees we along with other UC Hastings organizations provide the youth with tools to advance their studies, such as school supplies and SAT preparation books. This year’s “A Day @ Law School” will be on Saturday, February 21, 2009.

Diversity Outreach Day is a day designed to recruit a diverse background of undergraduate students to apply to UC Hastings. Students have the opportunity to attend student and professor led panels to discuss UC Hastings, its curriculum and law school in general. HRPL/J along with other UC Hastings student ran organizations are committed to diversifying our law school and the legal profession. Diversity Outreach Day is traditionally held during the Fall Semester.
